Our Team
Creative Director/Owner
Bachelor of Graphic Design
University of Canberra
I am the proud owner and director of Papercut since its inception in 2004. I began my business with the desire to introduce and lead the Canberra market in sustainable design, while offering friendly, down-to-earth service to all our clients.
My experience is in creative arts, visual merchandising and graphic design since graduating from the University of Canberra with a BA in 2002.
I have worked for a private studio, a not-for-profit studio, the ATO and CASA in a design role before starting my own business – Papercut.
I am a born Canberran and have found this city to be very supportive of small business. My challenge is to balance business and family and to find time to be creative. My strength is in marketing, organising and project management.
My favourite thing about Papercut is my talented team with their diverse skills and personalities.
I derive great joy from satisfied clients – the best compliment clients can give is to return to Papercut for more business.
Studio Manager
Bachelor of Graphic Design (Hons)
University of Canberra
In October 2008, I got a call from Claire asking me to come and work at her new studio 'Papercut'.
My contract at NGA was almost over so the timing was perfect and I looked forward to the change in direction.
After working as an in-house and freelance graphic designer for clients in the private, not-for-profit and Government sectors, I knew that working in a busy studio would be an exciting challenge.
It has been a challenge but it's also been incredibly rewarding! My experience in design, project management, print production and specifically publications/specialty items has stood me in good stead. Knowing how to work on a job from start to finish has been a major advantage and has helped in my role as Studio Manager.
I now oversee all the jobs in the studio and ensure they run smoothly. It's important that the clients have a great experience working with Papercut and end up with a design they love!

As a profession, graphic design is something you can't escape. It's everywhere. I have been designing for 7 years. It grows on you. You know it's stuck with you when you start picking up random stuff; coasters from a bar, free postcards from a café.
I get the usual blank, slightly confused face when explaining what graphic design is. The first response is usually logos, websites? Yes I do those and a whole lot more.
Graphic design is a creative process – undertaken in order to convey a specific message to a targeted audience (thanks Wiki).
As far as skills go, the thing with design is you have to be versatile. I could be branding a new business, creating logos and stationery or typesetting a 640 page report – all in the same week.
Then there's the other side to Graphic Design, the not so creative. Emails, phone calls, client and supplier relations. No two days are ever the same!
Junior Graphic Designer
Bachelor of Visual Communication
Design and Illustration
Newcastle University
Professionally my design career starts here at Papercut in 2010.
After finding my feet, I discovered my passion for illustration and brand identity.
Personally, I have a weakness for traditional typography and imagery, letting elements creep in where possible.
Experience has taught me design is everywhere; there is no escaping it.
Romantic at heart, I enjoy the challenges design offers and exploring the different solutions.
Creativity and endless possibilities make me love what I do.
Ultimately though, I can't wait to see what I can do for you...
Time will tell.

Cert. IV Visual Arts and Contemporary Crafts
Canberra Institute of Technology
I joined the Papercut team in December 2011, after many years of studying art and design at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
I've designed advertisements and exhibition collateral for the Canberra Museum and Gallery; worked in an art store for five years; taught myself how to code a website when I was twelve; and tinker with html and css for fun. I can't stand to sit still and do nothing, and always have to have at least one (or twenty) creative projects on the go.

Well, I've been a graphic, web and multimedia designer for over ten years, adapting my style and software to match the ever-changing electronic world. The designs I create are directed towards people, by identifying their problems and then executing the best solution. Design is very objective-driven, and that's what makes it interesting and why I'm so passionate about it.
I'm also pretty clued up when it comes to all things technical too, allowing me to build websites, program games and script multimedia applications with ease. There's really no use to all of this without being able to communicate my thoughts with the rest of the world, and that's why I like to turn to social networking once in a while. Over the past few years I've learnt that these communication tools are not only great for keeping in touch with friends or family, they're great for business too!
